The Kid

The Kid (by Raj Kamdar)

Part 1

"Take this money and bring a pack of cigarettes"

"Yes sir"

"Keep the change"

The kid left.

He was 10 then. Had his parents not died, he would have never been working for that ba$#*r&. The kid hated his master and there were many reasons for the same.

Firstly, the master had imparted the habit of smoking into the mind of his father. His father would steal a cigarette from a pack whenever he was asked to bring one for his master. The master survived, but he made the kid an orphan.

Secondly, the master loved the kid, but he didn't allow him to visit the school, the kid would get satisfied by his fantasies.

"I would kill him one day.." it wasn't the kid's voice, it was the the voice of his heart.

Although there was no chance that the kid's wish would be fulfilled as the master already was suffering from cancer.

Part 2

2 years had passed since that event. The kid had become the kid version 2.0. But it's not always necessary that the latter part is always the better part.

Once he saw his master's child smoking with his friends.

"Smoking is heavenly experience" He said.
"Yeah, they say you die because of smoking, but why should we care for others, enjoy our life!" his friend replied.

The kid thought that the friend was right, he decided to smoke a cigarette the next time to to know what exactly "the heavenly experience" was! He smoked, he enjoyed!

He cultivated the same habit that his father cultivated a few years back.

Now he has signed a pact with the master's child, he brings a pack of cigarette for him everyday and smokes 3 of the ten.

Smoking killed a person, made a child an orphan, it is about to make another child an orphan and it will soon kill three more children.

Smoking proved to be hazardous yesterday, it is hazardous today, it will be hazardous tomorrow.

Think.. ACT!
